With more than 10,000 followers on both their Instagram and Facebook pages, Wardrobemess has made its mark over the past couple of years. So I'm guessing there isn't a need for an introduction on who they are. Besides, it's not the first time I'm reviewing on their clothes, and each time, there's a new element of surprise to anticipate for.

Unlike the previous time, where I went all girly and picked loads of flowery, pastel-like stuff... I thought I'd go with my usual thing for black this time.

We all need at least two little black dresses in our closet.

According to Wikipedia, little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel and Jean Patou[1] intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral colour. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the "LBD".

Well to me, instead of a whole paragraph of what seem rather, profound explanations on what defines a little black dress, it's basically a simple black dress that can be adapted to many various occasions.

We can't deny black is probably the easiest colour to pick, while browsing through a section of clothes, shoes etc in a physical store. Not only does it go well with anything, ironically, such monotonous colour could actually stand out on its own. Often, without the need to adorn it with extra accessories.

Undoubtably, accessories can sometimes make a notable difference to our outfits.

-

My first pick was this Criss Cross Side Dress. Alone, it brings out this sassiness with the cut-outs on each side, and revealing of one's midriff. I decided to pair it up with this bold, silver eagle necklace I got from Topshop to bring an edge to the overall look.

A dress suitable for everyday usage or simply mix N' match it with a leather jacket for a ladies' night out!

Next, it's this Cut In Slit Maxi which I am so fond of. These sorta maxi dresses are the ones that you could easily notice a "height-boost" upon wearing them. Long, sleek and perhaps a time to pair it off with your killer heels.

I actually have 3 similar maxis in my closet; with all sorts of sleeves. Talking bout' obsessed aye.

Wish to skip the formality of the look? Switch to a pair of sneakers and you're ready to go! See what I mean when I said these little black dresses are extremely versatile?

Not to mention, any colour or design of shoes could match with your little black dress!

Never Enough
Sunday, January 12, 2014 | 7:32 PM | 0 comments

I'm only human. I have feelings, I make mistakes, I have an unpleasant side, I am NOT perfect. I'm so tired of living under this pressure you put on me, this ever-changing expectation you have for me that I can never keep up to.

Every time I try my best, it still seems like it's not good enough for you. Why do you have to concentrate on my pettifogging little shortcomings, instead of appreciating me for how much I've already tried to fit to your standards?

I'm weary and despondent. You make me feel like I'm a good for nothing, cos nothing I do is ever considered "remarkable" in your eyes.

I failed, but stood up strong so many times... I've never been disheartened by all your little remarks which you said to hurt and break me, but I guess even the most patient person on earth has their own limitations.

I'm not mad, I just hate how it feels when I try so hard, but nothing's ever right. It's exhausting.

I'm on the verge of giving up.

Breathe
Friday, January 3, 2014 | 4:06 PM | 0 comments

Wet pillows, swollen eyes, breathing difficulties... Those nights you wish you could sleep and didn't have to wake up ever again, those nights you lie in bed for hours wondering how your life would've turned out to be if you made a different decision, those nights you stay up just to think about someone who probably forgotten about you... I guess most of us have experienced that before.

We all bound to face those days where we just wanna ditch our phone, disconnect from the world and indulge in some alone time, or maybe just go missing for a few hours and check back in to see if anyone actually notices your disappearance. Sounds stupid, but you get my drift.

I think it feeling unhappy and having a pessimistic outlook on certain things in life, is inevitable. No matter how positive someone is, we all have our bad days and we will all, at some point feel like the whole world's crashing down just because of one person...

They always say to live your life for you, not for anyone else, but then again, if you don't live for something, you'll just end up dying for nothing. Hahaha, so that being said -

Find the right person that's worth the pain. Someone who brings out the best in you, not someone you've to be the best for.

-

Don't regret anything, cos every mistake is a lesson learnt and don't ever let one bad day, make you feel like you've a bad life.
Just some random thoughts I had. Anyway, here are some outfit pictures taken recently :)

HER VELVET VASE
Monday, December 9, 2013 | 2:40 PM | 0 comments

Have worked with tons of online stores over the years, but I've never been more excited than this.

What's your definition of happiness? They always say, "Money can't buy true happiness," but if all these superficiality can be traded for a moment of joy, why not? No doubt, it's only temporary, but who cares!!!

I was soaked in bliss upon seeing the HVV Moodbox when I woke up that morning. I wasn't expecting much before receiving it, but I was so contented that I texted one of the owners, Sophie the moment I opened the box...

Besides being efficient (the box was sent to me almost as soon as I had my orders submitted),

thumbs up for the exquisite packaging (I love how the items were placed in such a way. I would've ripped everything apart to express my excitement, but then again, it'd be such a waste to ruin this beautiful box. Besides, I've been a rather frequent buyer of a lot of American-based online stores such as, ASOS, Nastygal etc - And I usually spend a minimum of $300 and maximum of $700, but I don't remember receiving my parcels in any special packaging),

also, the fabric and quality of each item I received was of surprisingly good standard. For their rather reasonable prices, not only were they not paper-thin, but they didn't make me feel like I was wearing some inexpensive clothing which are easily attainable at places like Bugis street.

I can still receive "garbage," for paying up to 80 bucks at times, and for the fact that HVV's stuff are probably around $30 on avg... Kudos to them.

If you're looking for things to pair along with your outfits, they actually sell an amazing variety of outerwear, shoes, and accessories too.

Here are some of the things they chose for me that came in my Moodbox.

So anyway, are you one of those regular online shoppers that can hardly make up your mind on the things you wish to buy, due to the crazy amount of things these shops sell at times?

I definitely fit somewhere along the category of "indecisiveness," so it caught my attention when Sophie kindly explained to me how their exclusive HVV moodbox worked.

Basically, it's a subscription plan of gift-box to be delivered to a customer every month, based on their subscription plan (3 or 6 months). Contents of the HVV Moodbox is specially and carefully put together by the HVV styling team, based on your fashion mood which can be reflected by filling in the Mood Box subscription survey as follows:

These were my picks!

Pretty cool isn't it? I'm not sure if this idea's new in the market, but it's definitely new to me. I LOVE surprises; just so because, the older I become, the lesser I receive.

So every now and then, these good surprises makes me happy. At least for something like this, you know you'll probably still end up liking the items, because you already gave them an idea of what you're looking for. Hence, I believe it can hardly go wrong.

Haven't tried out the rest of the outfits, but I'll show you guys how I pair them up when I get to wear them!

Anyway before I end this post, HVV came up with a really special giveaway just for y'all!!!

Wanna receive your very own Moodbox?! Follow the instructions above and you'd stand a chance to win one! All the best cupcakes. X

Sydney Haul
Sunday, December 8, 2013 | 5:03 PM | 0 comments

Can you believe I actually filmed my haul video 4 times?!! (K, don't answer it. It's a rhetorical question.) Not like cutting, and recording 4 times. I mean I literally retook it 4 times, on 4 different days. It was a terrible experience, but I really want the two videos to end up being something you guys would wanna watch, so I didn't mind the sacrifice. Can't stand myself, damn act yi ge.

And due to how long the entire video is, I've separated them into two parts in order to accommodate your comfort levels.

Sorry I took so long. It took me 3 days to realise my entire video couldn't be uploaded (each attempt took more than 10 hours). Gawd. Alright, enough of all the pointless rantings. So here they are!!!

Enjoy!! Be back with a giveaway tomorrow ;)

SHOPSKINNED
Thursday, December 5, 2013 | 3:23 PM | 0 comments

Haven't done a review for a pretty long time now, and I thought I'd share what I've gotten recently from Shopskinned

Anyway, I'm really particular about the things I get online. Not that I've been okay about receiving low-quality stuff, I'm just extremely anal about it recently.

Which explains the lack of fashion-related reviews, for being rather selective of what I want to share with y'all. Don't wanna end up becoming one of those who lie about my reviews just cos I'm paid to do so.

.

.

.

So here are two outerwear that I picked. The first, as you can see, is this black leather jacket.

One advantage and why it's essential to have at least one in your wardrobe? It's something that will never go out of trend.

Whether you're going on a casual date, formal event, day or night, it's still gonna be that one jacket you probably can't go wrong with. Best part? You don't necessarily have to pair it up with shorts, pants or anything edgy, dresses can go well with it too.

A lot of people have this misconception that leather jackets can only fit girls with an edgy style, but I beg to differ! Cos personally, I think anyone could pull it off. It's really how you wear it to fit your personal style that makes a difference.

And because this jacket is made of soft leather, you can customize them with studs and spikes too! They are easily attainable at places like *SCAPE. I remember seeing them at one of the shops near the main entrance.

So here's how I paired my jacket!

A see-through, polkadot cropped top with boyfriend jeans, and white courts.

Leather jackets can cost up to 300 to a few grand in some stores, of course with the branding, genuine leather etc.

But I really wouldn't mind getting this at only $39.90, for a really good quality!

As for the second piece, it's this varsity jacket with embroidery on it.

I know varsity jackets have always been around, but there's always a period of time where it's the super "in thing" and suddenly it's just like another piece of clothing on the rack.

But what I like about this, is that it's not like the usual ones, where they are typically like...

In fact, they are not as thick and I guess it's more suitable for our generally terrible weather here in Singapore.

I paired mine up with a tank and high-waist denim bottom, both from Topshop and a pair of Flora-printed vans.

That being said,

Quote "Naomi2" - $2 off for 1 item purchased.
"Naomi5" - $5 off for 2 or more items purchased.
*Expires on 31st Dec. *1 time usage.
