Long or short hair?
Tuesday, May 13, 2014 | 6:45 PM | 5 comments

So many of you have been asking me lately...

"DIDN'T YOU CUT YOUR HAIR?!"

And to finally answer this questions, yes I did. Haha.

For those of you who aren't aware, I posted this picture on Instagram about three weeks ago.

As you can see, I mentioned that I snipped off more than half of my hair. However, it became long again the following day. Thought it was kinda funny to confuse you guys so I didn't explain why :p Haha, kidding. It was mainly because I was out almost everyday since my school hols started, and haven't been able to find the time to talk about this and I thought I give it a few weeks before I see how my hair would turn out to be!

Most of you should know by now, I dyed my hair really often last year. And yes, no matter how healthy someone's hair is, it'll eventually cause breakage and severe damages to your hair. By the time you realise, you'd probably have to shave it all off! Boo hoo. Protect your hair guys, you don't wanna end up regretting like how I did.

Here are some pictures of my freshly cut hair by @Jaime, my hairstylist at Salon Vim, Bugis.

So anyway, the 3 reasons why I decided to cut my hair off (Fun fact: I've never had short hair before, besides when I was a kid):

1) In hope that my healthy hair would eventually grow out again.
2) I really miss having super long hair, and because I had blue ends previously, I had to cut them off in order to... EXTEND IT.
3) YOLO if that's how you use it.

Hence, right after my haircut, I went over to Milly's at Far East Plaza to put on hair extensions!

Just to provide a little more information on their hair extension services... They've a variety of extensions to choose from, in terms of colours, texture and style. I like how they even come in ombre-colours! That would be great in case you'd wish to experiment something new. If you're really new to these fun colours, and aren't comfortable with dyeing your hair, you might wanna try on their clip-on extensions!

Milly's offers 100% real human hair with quality and volume. Cost $100 Dollars for the first 200 Strands, and subsequently $1 per strand.

Figure out whether you're there to extend the length of your hair, add some volume, or to play around with some colours, and you can start off by picking the kind of hair (straight/curly) and colour of your own preference. (If you're uncertain, they'll assist you and pick one that best suits/blends with your hair.)

I allowed them to decide on the colour on my behalf. And since my hair had several tones to it, varying from light to dark brown and a little tinge red, they picked three similar colours to ensure that they look as close to my natural hair as possible since I'm not really familiar.

Since my hair's pretty thick, I guess I had more than 400 strands on and everything was done within 3-4 hours. They'd help you trim it to your desired length if they end up too long as well.

I must say... I love the end results!

Is it recommended?

I first tried on hair extensions when I was 12. (Haha yeah I was already god damn vain since young.) Therefore, it's not much of an issue nor hassle for me. It does feel slightly uncomfortable initially, especially cos I've tons of it on, but it's fine if it's just a couple of strands. You'd most likely get used to them within a week or less when they start loosening up a little, after a few washes.

Washes? Yeah, you can definitely still wash your hair as per normal.

Perks of Milly's hair extensions:

1) Unlike many fake extensions where the hair's made of nylon or other weird, shiny material, Milly's uses 100% real human hair. Hence, you can still straighten/curl and dye it.

2) Another perk is that even though it's the 3rd week now, all the strands are still intact, and I've yet to witness much of a hair loss. They can actually last up to 6 months or slightly more if you are to take good care of them!

3) They still remain as soft and smooth as when I first had them on, hence, extremely manageable.

Cons:

1) So far, I'm really satisfied with everything on the whole. The only problem I face is that, my hair does itch up once in awhile. Which, I completely understand, is inevitable, because I've so many strands of fake hair on. However, it can be solved by washing it. It's fine right after I shower.

2) It might be a bit of a problem if you happen to do like... E.g 250 strands, cos then it'd cost $150. However, $200 if you were to do 400 strands instead. So that's highly dependent on what each individual prefers and the thickness of one's hair as well.

3) The knots where the extensions are attached to your hair, might be a little difficult to hide when you wish to tie your hair. Of course, again, that's if you have as many strands as I do. A solution would be to get the clip-on ones instead, and you can still go back to your original hair length on days you feel bored!

I'd definitely do it again, because I just love having long, luscious hair and honestly speaking, the cons to me are really minor problems that I could easily resolve, so I'd also recommend you guys to try!

If you already have long/thick hair, play around with some colours! You can always have them removed if you dislike them.

Alright, that's about it! Here are some pictures of my hair :) Taken 2 weeks after extending.

I bet you could hardly tell it's fake!!! Hehe :p

Fluttering Eyelashes
Wednesday, March 26, 2014 | 6:20 PM | 2 comments

It's been nearly 3 months since I last had eyelash extensions on. I remember how I used to be really dependent on them, and had to return to the store to redo/get a touch up once in every 3 weeks. Imagine the amount of money I spent back then. Not trying to say that I'm rich, cos I'm not... Just vain perhaps :D

Moreover, I can skip mascara, which saves me some time in the morning, and I don't have to go through the hassle of removing it at the end of each day. Don't you girls hate removing waterproof mascaras?

I got my lashes done at FEP initially, and even though I patronised them for months, I didn't really like their service due to several bad experiences I encountered. (Shall name this shop X, cos I don't think it's nice to sorta "defame" them.)

1) Some of shop X's staff were really rough when they did my eyelashes on certain unfortunate occasions. Given the benefit of doubt, it's probably cos they were busy and had to rush... But hello, my eyes are extremely delicate!!!

2) I HATE how I had to wait for nearly 15mins before the glue dries, even with the help of an electronic fan to speed up the process. Not to mention, it BURNS if you accidentally open your eyes before they are completely dried. If you wear contact lenses like me, then f your life... It's like god damn "eyes on fire" for good 5mins.

3) Their lashes don't really last, like they fall off within a week at times.

4) I suffered from sore-eyes thrice last year! (The number of sacrifices made for the sake of beauty... -_-)

I won't deny that I had the impression it's the same for all places at the beginning, but it wasn't until I received an email from Milly's to ask if I was interested in giving their service a try.

Despite how raved it was at one point, cos many bloggers had their nails and lashes done there as well, I wasn't exactly open to the idea as I thought I was pretty comfortable with the current one I had back then (although their service sorta suck).

Well, Milly on the other hand was really nice and suggested a "trial session" so that I could have a better idea on how they work, and I could decide thereafter. Why not? I gave it a go.

To my surprise, it was a commendable experience and I was really pleased with their service.

Not only were the staff extremely courteous and amiable, they were receptive towards my demands. Also, it's usually done within 30-40 mins without having to waste 15 mins in "blindness" for my lashes to dry.

I also appreciate the fact that they have rooms instead, unlike how it's usually done in an open area at many other places. *Bonus point

Price ranges from $55-$75, and because I usually opt for single-lash extensions, mine's $75 instead.

What differentiates the single-lash extension from the usual ones? As its name suggests, single strands of eyelashes are put on, one at a time. Normal eyelash extensions have several strands of lashes in each bundle. (Refer to pic below)

& Similar to normal eyelash extensions, there's a variety of lengths you can choose from.

(Top) - Normal. (Bottom) - Single.

As you can see, there's actually a vast difference between the two. One's a little more unnatural and dramatic, the other's more natural, however requires a painstaking effort for it to be done.

So it's up to you which look you wish to to obtain!

In case if you were wondering whether the process hurts, nope it doesn't!

They also provide other services such as manicure and pedicure, as well as hair extension.

Haven't tried their hair extension service, but I've done my nails there a couple of times previously, and will do a separate review on them another time.

I usually look for this lady, Gina to do my lashes and they can last up to a month if you take good care of them!

Anyway, I'm not really sure if other places have started using this, but Milly's has brought in a new kind of lashes some time ago, and it's soft as fur!!! The old ones can be a little too stiff at times, and they irritate my eyes when I sleep.

I guess that helps the lashes to appear more natural as well.

Okok, I think you guys have read enough!!! Here are some pictures!

*Apologies for not taking a "before" picture, kinda slipped off my mind, but to give you a rough idea... It's nearly half the length of the extensions! Unlucky asian :(

Black X White
Wednesday, December 4, 2013 | 7:18 PM | 0 comments

Some of you might be wondering why I went back to black even though I claimed that I really love my red hair. So I'm just gonna repeat what I already said to almost everyone I've seen so far, since I came back from Sydney.

Which is, "My hair colour faded so bad that I looked like a dog." I'm not exactly sure if there are any red dogs around, but I definitely resembled one from what I imagined.

Dyed it the moment I came home that night, myself. Was really disturbed by the many shades of red/brown I had on my hair. Varying from an almost bleached tone, to dark red.

Wait, it's not Vim's fault, cos Jamie (my stylist) already warned me about it previously, but I couldn't really be bothered cos all I wanted was red freakin' hair lol.

I'm most definitely gonna regret about turning jet black, cos it's like a "deadly" colour. If you don't already know, you have to bleach the hell out of your hair once you dye it jet black.

Which, I can't... Cos my hair's already badly damaged. Really don't know what I'm gonna do about it, even though I'm kinda enjoying it while it lasts. Let's take a moment to imagine me with black hair for the next few months... Sobs.

Anyway, I'm really into a full-body black/white outfit since the change of hair colour.

Here's what I wore for the past two days~

Just a basic black cardigan, cropped tank and fringe-skirt - Adorned with tons of accessories haha.

And here's the other outfit!

The first one is probably more goth-inspired (as what my BFF claimed) compared to this - Wore it for a meeting, so it's semi-formal and a little more ladylike.

Anyway, my nails are done at @Millysbeautysg you can check them out (here) This is my 4th visit there and I swear I'm super pleased with their service! My lash extensions are usually done there as well.
